Ten years ago - central bearded dragon in a Korean pet shop.

28th April 2003.

Unfortunately, there is not much concern for animal welfare in Korea, and a lot of the pets I saw in shops, and even in people’s possession, were in poor condition. Often animals are openly treated with cruelty. So it was good to see this healthy bearded dragon in an Ansan pet shop. He belonged to the shop owner and was not for sale. A less comfortable fate and, I’m afraid, a short life awaits most of the reptiles, mammals and other pets sold through Korean outlets.
